HEART OF THE PROJECT

A lack of processing capacity of the tomato

Agriculture in Lalo remains subsistence agriculture. This municipality occupies the 2nd place of tomato production at the departmental level. The sector of processing tomato is virtually nonexistent in the town because there is only one processing company which capacity is far from satisfying the supply. Groups suffer from insufficient material and appropriate equipment and a lack of knowledge on the steps of processing.

Highlighting the local know-how

The project plans to enable women to improve tomato production practices and increase their productivity, to enhance their know-how through the improvement of their tomato puree preservation and processing techniques, to train women on marketing strategies and to sustainably increase the income of rural women.
