A plot for sustainable activities
Aminata is a supervisor in urban agriculture, she notes that the project is perceived as positive because of a great need for a dedicated space to develop agriculture and crop profitability. For this to be feasible, it was essential for the center to acquire a patch of land.
“The grounds had to be secured which is now the case with a good wall on all four sides. The water point is now in use and essential for vegetable production; it will allow the beneficiaries to have a good yield.” says Laurent, horticultural technician training trainers in agroecology.
A place dedicated to exchange and development
Rokhaya is the treasurer of a women’s group within the CEEDD and is the agroecology coordinator. “It is a great satisfaction to have the C3E center and a field belonging to the CEEDD, it is a dynamic place where women can meet and exchange practices. The training gives them the means to consider a maximum return in agricultural production and the planned workshops on how to transform agricultural products will exploit at best each crop.”
Rokhaya adds that means of transportation will counteract the remoteness and temporary isolation of the land, as in the near future, this rapidly expanding area will receive the necessary roads to connect it to the city center.
